Who starts these rumors? I find it very hard to believe that Wegman's wants out. If Wyeth lays off 50% of that facility, there will still be 2,000 or so working there. If they lay off 100% of the facility, there's still GSK and Quest, and other smaller companies, to fill Wegmans' food court at lunchtime. Besides, that Wyeth facility will likely be sold to another pharma. Remember when it was Rhone not too long ago? Not to mention the fact that Wegman's will cater to the thousands of locals who LIVE in the area, regardless of where they work. I don't believe any rumors that say Wegman's wants out.

Rumor has it that Wegman's wants out because of the Pfizer acquisition of Wyeth. (The Wyeth facility may close). Does anyone know anything about this?

There was a web site, not an official "Providence Town Center" site, but one associated with one of the developers, that had a full plan of the center. It included all of the stores and who was going in. A hotel and several pad restaurants. I don't know what happened to it. It's very curious that the center is so far along, but no web site as yet? Management of this center has changed hands twice already.

The center is set up with several large big box stores in the front (Dicks, Best Buy, LA Fitness, Staples, Old Navy among others). In the middle is the typical town center with streets stores and some parking. Larger parking areas fall between the big box stores and the town center. Scattered throughout are pad sites for larger restaurants. I recall PF Changs, but can't remember the others. The hotel falls in the rear of the center and Wegmans is also in the rear, closer to 422. You can already see their signature spire on the food market currently under construction.

Right now, it's getting more difficult to find anything on this center. Wegmans has set a date for Fall 2009 and they usually stick to their targets. With the current economic situation, I would not be surprised if they held off in opening the entire center for that date. That is probably why they are not posting anything. The town center in King of Prussia (site of VF golf course) has stopped construction altogether. The town center planned for Malvern has been moving dirt for some time now trying to re-route a spring. That center is way behind target. Looks like this problem is happening everywhere.

This is a joke. They've been digging and digging for like two years and it's still not done. Friggin' Arcola road is closed off at 113-for what reason I don't know. Talk about a mismanaged project. It took a year to build the Phila outlets in Sanatoga and this thing has been going on for over two years and still nowhere near done. Ugh.

I'm wondering why there is no specific web site on Providence Town Center. I see progress on the construction site. Other centers like the one on Swedesford Rd. have a site and they are not as far along. The only thing I've seen is the architect's site which has a site plan with stores. Has anyone seen a formal site showing what stores are "official".

What IS the hold up? I would swear that I was hearing about this center when Limerick killed the Sam's Club plans and subsequently they decided to build Philadelphia Premium Outlets which are now built and operating. It's like they keep pushing a pile of dirt back and forth.
