Council Rock School District forms assessment appeals review committee

leave a comment »

The Council Rock School Board recently formed a committee to review county assessment appeals on properties within the district. If all assessment appeals stand, Council Rock School District stands to lose between $1.7 and $2.7 million in revenue next year. A typical year sees 25 assessment appeals, but this year the district had 805 residential and 20 commercial appeals. The district will need to hire its own appraiser to formulate a list of general judgment criteria to determine the validity of the appeal. The county will make the information available to the school district by late November and Council Rock will have 30 days to complete the process.
