Chester County bucks housing trend
Chester County is largely bucking the national trend when it comes to existing-home sales, which are still free-falling in some parts of the country. Existing homes sales fell 7 percent in July, when compared to July 2007, but the rate of decline here is far less than it has been and certainly lower than it is nationwide. In first-quarter 2008, sales fell 37 percent in Chester County but only 15 percent in the second quarter, when compared with a year ago.

Month-long project along Route 202 in Chesco begins today
Construction will begin today on a month-long safety project on Route 202 in Chester County.
PennDot said the project, which was announced last week, involves installing cable guide rail to close open medians on the highway between East Whiteland and Tredyffrin Townships.
Guide rails deflect vehicles that have crossed into the median, stopping them from going into lanes going in the opposite direction.
The work will be done on weekdays between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., with crews beginning at the Route 30 bypass in East Whiteland. From there, they will make their way east toward Route 252 in Tredyffrin. The job is scheduled to be completed by May 9.
