Upper Providence approves 34 new homes

Amid protest from residents, Upper Providence Supervisors approved a subdivision plan submitted by Toll Brothers for 34 single-family homes on 62 acres. Residents from Hasson Road near Route 29 were among those in attendance voicing concern about the single access point for the new development.

Rt. 422 corridor brings booming business

Over the past 30 years, the corridor from Upper Merion and the Schuylkill River in West Norriton to the Berks County line has experienced tremendous residential development. More recently, a boom in retail and commercial development has turned the Rt. 422 corridor into a more resident-friendly alternative to the King of Prussia mall. Michael Stokes, assistant director of the county planning commission, reports that there is almost 3.5 million square feet in newly built or proposed retail and commercial development along the 15-mile stretch of Rt. 422.
